Suggestions or Recommendations about the Survey Topic

Culture shock is common problem for International Students these day. There are some elements that affect on international students such as habit, language, weather, transportation and clothes. The most problem that international students facing is habit and language in Australia because many things are different between Australia and their own country. International students may feel uncomfortable when experience an unfamiliar way to live new country. Thus, we give some recommendation for International Students to avoid culture shock. First of all, you should find a lot of information about Australia because if you first time come and live in Australia, you don’t know about Australian culture. Firstly, we interviewed 12 international students in class of EAP 4A. About 80% of students are male and 20% of students are female. Furthermore, 7 students between 18 to 20 years old, 4 students between 21 to 25 years old and 1 student is more than 30 years old. In addition, they have 3 different nationality such as Japan, China and Vietnam.  The pie chart shows Australian Slang is difficult to understand for international students in Swinburne University. About 75% students thinking Australian Slang is difficult to understand because usually, international student doesn’t use Australian Slang in their own country. So it is unfamiliar for international student. However, 25% students thinking Australian Slang is easy to understand. The bar chart illustrate the most affects for international students. The survey findings

Introduction        International students who live in another country have many culture shocks. Then, we decided to ask people how feel Australian culture. We interviewed 12 international students included 10 females and 2 males. They are from Japan, Vietnam and China between 18 and 32 years of age. We asked both closed ended and open ended questions about habits, foods, weather, language and transportation. These days, many people go to study abroad to get better education  and get new experience. It is necessary to living another country. So, people might be experience with the different culture than their own culture such as climate, language, behavior, dress, food and accommodation. It is called culture shock. Culture shock is one of the biggest problem for International students. Culture aspect affect students to change their habit. Therefore, we want to know how they feel about Australian culture. In addition, we survey to find out the big gap between student’s culture and Australian culture. International students might get culture shock when they came to Australia to living in Australia especially in the first week because they didn’t know Australian culture.
